Meet Our Alumni: Success Stories from the USF Online MS in Cybercrime
Graduates of the USF Online Master of Science in Cybercrime are making an impact in law enforcement, national security, corporate security, and academia. Our alumni have advanced into careers in digital forensics, cybercrime investigations, and policy analysis, using the expertise they gained at USF to combat cyber threats, support law enforcement, and shape cybercrime investigation strategies.
Lauren Smith is at the forefront of cryptocurrency fraud investigations. Her coursework in digital forensics and cybercrime law helped her develop the skills to track illicit blockchain transactions and assist in fraud detection. Now working in corporate security, she collaborates with law enforcement to uncover financial crimes, strengthen protections, and train others to combat cyber-enabled fraud.
For law enforcement officer Gary Rudd, the MS in Cybercrime provided hands-on training in mobile forensics, evidence collection, and network investigations. With a stronger foundation in digital forensics, he now processes digital evidence more efficiently and helps build stronger cybercrime cases.
Kevin Durkin didn’t expect to love cybercrime, but an introductory class at USF changed his career path. While earning his MS in Cybercrime with a focus on Digital Forensics, he conducted research, interned with Homeland Security, and gained hands-on forensic skills.
